Wake Up and Smell the Culture
This article links culture to academic achievement. It makes the case that a culture of poverty--not any ethnic culture--is responsible for low academic achievement, and it puts forward some ideas about how to correct the problem. It is distinctly opposed to the practices enforced by The No Child Left Behind Act because of its failure to address the true issues involved.

Some students can get an A without even trying and they will take any path they need to, to get that A. Then there are those students that work their little hearts out and get a B or even sometimes a C and they are much better students that the A student talked about above. Bramhall Square - The Site of the First U.S. Federal Execution

There is a big sign on the edge of the parking lot of the Bramhall Fire Station, which sits a couple buildings down on Congress St. telling about the Hanging of Thomas Bird, which took place on June 25, 1790. It is the sight of the first federally ordered execution in the history of the United States of America.
