No one walks away with a grin and a skip in their step after having been told how useless and incompetent their conduct is, and no one hums a chirpy tune when they have the sense that they are generally disliked or even hated. There are of course the few whom thrive in the knowledge that they are to be feared; it may provide some sort of thrill or sense of power. And I have most certainly rushed from the feeling that rebellion brings, the success of taking the control away from the heartless despot. Altogether, the problems that these little instant gratifications bring far out weigh the humiliation of admitting we were wrong from the start. It is surprisingly easy to let go of ones obstinacy and pride, far easier than creating bad relations and internally harbored grudges.
