Get Rid of Non-Creative Health Presentations! Next Time Try Using a Metaphor or Simile
I challenge you to consider using a metaphor or simile the next time you plan your health presentation. But what exactly is a metaphor?metaphor -- n. figurative use of words in which a word or phrase is used to mean something other than what it usually means. For a presenter who scripts out his or her presentation, metaphors are as important as paint is for an artist. When doing a presentation you can add creativity by using metaphors. For example; If I was talking about lead chips and pica behavior in young children I could say “lead chips are potato chips in the hands of young children with pica.”Now let’s take this a little further. In the example of the potato chips you could actually take a bag of chips and open it in front of the audience and pour them into a bowl. You could joke and say it is hard to eat only one chip. You can further show the tiny chips in the bag and point to the relative size of small potato chips and the small size of lead chips that can poison our children. Wow! Can you see this working for you?Take a few moments to think about how this can apply to your prevention topic.A simile -- it's a lot like metaphorSimile –n. a figure of speech that draws a

    • Competitive Marketing Analysis
The keyword in this phrase gives us a hint - "competitive". The competitive marketing analysis is an in-depth study of your business's competition and the markets available to you in order to ensure your advertising and public relations budget dollars are spent where they will be most effective. In order to perform strategic planning for your firm's future, it is imperative to know who the competition is and exactly what you are up against to ensure that your market share is sufficient for your firm's future. Increasing market share is the goal of any competitive marketing analysis.Identifying the CompetitionWho is the competition and how can they be located? Since you know exactly what products or services your firm provides, you can locate your competition by identifying other producers or providers in the same market that you supply. This is not a difficult task; it does, however, require some research. Competing suppliers are not hiding; they advertise just as your firm does. The yellow pages of your local telephone book can be the starting point for competition identification. Research the Internet searching for press releases and publications which use descriptions similar to your products or s
There are nowhere near the amount of webmasters using RSS that there should be. There is more exposure about RSS than there has ever been but take up of RSS still seems to be slow. I think the main reason for this is the lack of understanding of how to implement an RSS feed.

    .

I have been blogging at http://blogtonomy.com/ for two weeks now, that’s two weeks today in fact and my Feedburner stats tell me I have a total of nine subscribers to my RSS feed. That’s not bad considering I did not activate my RSS feed straight away. These subscribers are made aware of updates to my sites without having to visit my site. Why would you want to make your readers visit your site if it hasn’t changed.

One of my missions as a webmasters has been to promote RSS to webmasters to let them know that it can be used as an additional channel to communicate with their visitors. I believe it fills a gap that email is failing to do because of the vast amount of spam that is out there. In fact I only use email as a means of making contact with people, email is personal and should not be invaded. You should not have to give out your email address all the time.

RSS is a good medium for publishing newsletters, updates and news. The sorts of things that are not specific to an individual but are relevant to groups. I would compare RSS to being more like a newspaper where as email is more like a letter you would expect to get from a friend or relative.

By all means I am an advocate of RSS and have been promoting it over at http://newsniche.com/ because of the lack of enthusiasm or maybe the confusion when it comes to RSS. The use of RSS may not become as widely used as email but it will grow in popularity, especially with the interest shown recently from the likes of MSN and Yahoo. No doubt Google will join in soon.

    • Concept Crashers and Detractors
So often in a group you will have some one who runs around and tries to shoot down every idea they come too. One must be amazed at these folks and wonder what on Earth are they trying to prove? Recently in an online think tank forum just such a man critiqued and idea to use a stationary bicycle in a spacecraft to keep the batteries topped off, by harnessing the energy created from pedaling.Eventually this gentleman after going on and on about what a bad idea and concept this was, even though we know all astronauts should exercise, the originator of the idea stated;Actually your critique lacks;1.) Proof of Statement2.) Signs of clearly not understanding subject matter3.) Relevant Arguments4.) Alternative SolutionTherefore your comments are irrelevant and unworthy of consideration, do not belong on a think tank and clearly are in need of a "Can Do" attitude. The posting of the concept is reality based and dust devils on Mars do have energy. It is plausible to harvest this energy. It makes sense to harvest energy, which is already there and thus practical if we can figure out how. And this is an original thought and I have searched the Internet and scientific papers and cann

    • Best of the Web Launches Its Blog Directory
The Best of the Web (botw.org), one of the internet’s original website directories (created in 1994), has decided to tackle the blogosphere in a big way—by introducing a hand-edited blog directory. Although the directory was soft launched on November 12 of this year and officially launched November 15th at the WebmasterWorld Search Engine and Internet Marketing Conference in Las Vegas, the directory boasts over 5000 blogs. The Best of the Web blog directory is located at blogs.botw.org.The search portion of the Best of the Web blog directory is still in beta, and should be “ready for release within the next 30 days. We are still tweaking the post functionality of the search – grabbing current content from the directory…kind of like Technorati does, without all the spam”, according to Greg Hartnett from Best of the Web.According to Hartnett, “we have been interested in blogging for about 18 months, and have been monitoring it closely for the last 12. We came up with the concept of the blog directory in July of this year, and began development shortly thereafter. We were able to draw off the experience of building the BOTW directory, and minor modifications of the underlying code enabled us to deploy an admi

    • Affiliate Marketing in a Nutshell
Affiliate marketing is a business anyone with a computer, a website and time can compete in. There is a misconception that there is very little work to be done in affiliate marketing. The website will take care of itself and you the affiliate will rake in money. While it may not be difficult to enter into the affiliate game, the percentage of successful affiliates is small. To be a success in affiliate marketing a person must be persistent and patient and willing to make mistake and to improve upon these mistakes. Different combinations of web design, advertising, content, and affiliate links must be tested and results analyzed. Affiliates Managers appreciate their affiliates who actively maintain their website and optimize it for success. The curse of the lazy affiliate is present for most affiliate managers. Inactive affiliates don’t affect program statistics; however, time is spent and often wasted in an effort to help these affiliates. Certain online companies will restrict affiliates from joining their program by requiring a formal application that must be approved. The downside to applications is that affiliates may not want to spend the time filling out the form and valuable affiliates could be losernet-and-Businesses-Online:RSS">Internet-and-Businesses-Online:RSS Category:
