    Am I a fan of giveaway marketing and giveaway events?

    No, but I still participate in them. It would be foolish not to use giveaway events to build your list for a number of reason.

    1-Content for your lists. List owners need content tp provide their lists so they have 2 choices: Create Free Reports or send them Free stuff they didn't create themsleves.

    2-Lisbuilding- If you have a free report to give away, submit it as a gift at a giveaway event. This is what giveaway marketing is all about.

    3-The bigger your list is, the more referrals you will send to the giveaway event, which means that you will be place dhigher up on the front page of the giveaway event web site.

    Which means more people will download your gift

    Which means your list grows faster and faster with each giveaway event you participate in.

    So why am I not the biggest fan of giveaway marketing and giveaway events?

    1-The word's getting out, so anyone with Microsoft Word and a PDF creator can make a free report to build their lists easily. Just add graphics to the report, and they now can build their list without sending anyone to the event.

    2-Which brings me to my next objection about this.. Too many free-loading marketers submititng reports but not promoting the event. That's why the Top Referrers get front page exposure,to motivate other marketers to promote the giveaway event

    to me, there are certain dangers of giveaway events that you should consider before exploring this as a long-term list building tactic...

    My readers have been very loyal to me so they are still attentive even though I send them to these givewaway events and they end up on ever mor emailing lists.

    Speaking of which, that brings me to my last objection to giveaway marketing and giveaway events. My list, even though its bigger, is less responsive when it comes to buying things,or even opening emails sent to them.

    The number of subscribers that don't verify their subscription is quite high, too, so it may look like I got 50 subscribers from a giveaway event, but I only ended up with 30 that verified their subscription to get their free report
