Resume Magic to Hide Resume Flaws tractively the item was packaged, how good it smelled...see my point? If you're job hunting, the last thing you need is weakness in your resume. Any bit of negative information can keep you from landing your dream job. Issues such as lack of a college degree or little or no job experience don't have to hinder your efforts. All you need to do is work a little resume magic. What follows are some tips to help you create a winning resume.Format is EverythingSo, you've been unemployed for the past seven months. The last thing you want to do is draw attention to those dates. Instead, focus your resume to highlight your abilities. By listing your skills over your experience, you're highlighting those areas that are most important.Types of ResumesThere are basically three types of resume formats: chronological, functional, and combination. When trying to hide your flaws, avoid the traditionally used chronological format that is organized by your employment history. This format will draw attention to negative aspects such as employment gaps or limited work history. There are two formats that will Here's another example. A couple of years ago, I signed up for Stone Evans' Plug-in Profit system. It seemed like a good deal, and I enjoyed the training I was getting and the camaraderie in the Warrior Forum. However, after the initial burst of enthusiasm, I realized that I was JUST NOT INTERESTED IN PROMOTING IT per se. I wanted to do other things! I was all about health, fitness, weight loss.... And then it hit me! While I wasn't making any real money with my Plug-in Profit business, although I WAS making a small profit and had met many people who were making good money with it, my income from my health and fitness sites WAS GOING UP! Why? I realized that I was taking the lessons I was learning from Stone Evans and applying them to the products I WAS interested in, and THOSE LESSONS were helping me promote the health and fitness products that I WAS INTERESTED IN! So, you see, here's a product, Plug-in Profit, that doesn't interest me as a product, but I can honestly say good, first-hand things about it. While simply telling people to join the program because it is a good way to make money would seem boring at the least and deceptive on my part at worst, I CAN honestly tell people about the benefits that I derived from the lessons which the program taught me! In talking with others on the subject in various forums, I am constantly running into other members who are not actively promoting the program but who are using the lessons learned to successfully promote other Internet businesses. By the way, I also DO School Weblogs - Why Blogging Benefits Schools - Part 1 of 2 Surprisingly, or perhaps not, when it comes to great advice about Internet marketing, it was the great American showman and hoaxer, P. T. Barnum (July 5, 1810 – April 7, 1891) who said it very well in his mostly forgotten gem, "The Art of Money Getting or Golden Rules for Making Money":Weblogs or blogs as they are known are here to stay. They will evolve as time goes on but communicating online via blogs whether through text, video or podcast audio, is something that is going to be a part of the internet for some time. Schools today can benefit greatly by providing their students with a school-sponsored weblog as a means to communicate with their teachers and other students in their school. In the same way that many blogs have virtual communities formed around them, schools can create and foster a community environment that provides a beneficial learning environment for kids today rather than just a place they have to go everyday.School Policies & Contact InformationIn the news today we see many schools enacting policies and practices to help them run better and provide a positive learning environment for all children. One area for example has to do with what is or is not acceptable in regards to the clothing allowed at the school. Schools that use a weblog would be able to have all their policies listed in one easily accessi "Unless a man enters upon the vocation intended for him by nature, and best suited to his peculiar genius, he cannot succeed." When we read Internet marketing tips offered up by "gurus" in their Internet marketing courses or on their websites, one of the first steps we often see is that we must choose a niche. Usually, most of these gurus are astute enough to include the advice that we should become involved in a product or service which matches some area of interest or expertise which we already have. There are many excellent reasons for this, and I myself am a great example. Although I tend to dabble in many areas because I am interested in many things, I love health and fitness above all. I see related subjects, such as nutrition and weight loss, as important areas in which I can help people improve their lives, and so I have made a lot of money, and had a lot of fun, selling products which have to do with these topics. Since I am immersed daily in a subject area which is near and dear to me, I have no need to summon up a desire to "go to work" each day. I am not "going to work", I am having fun! Additionally, while not the world's greatest expert on anything, I am comfortable with my ability to talk about most aspects of health, fitness, nutrition, and weight loss. Being so emotionally and intellectually attached to my chosen niche, I can take almost any product I deem of value and make a case, hopefully an interesting case, for its use by my friends, and hopefully potential customers...whom I also think of as friends. This has proven to be a formula for success for me. Many people entering Internet marketing for the first time, and many who have been attempting to make money online for some time with only a series of failures or near misses to show for their pains, do not understand the power of choosing a niche, a market, and a product that fit well with their personal interests and experience. Often, they mistake the desire to make money as enough of a motivation to make it through what can be the daily grind of having your own business. For many like myself, who have chosen a niche product or market which is compatible with their personal interests and pleasures, more than half the time and effort involved in "business" is spent having fun! BET YOU THOUGHT THAT WAS THE TIP, RIGHT? Well, it is...sort of! You see, if you have interest in and knowledge about a given field, you can often spot something of value even in a product with which you are not personally familiar. You may know that it is from a reputable company, or can recognize an engineering principle or structure that makes it valuable. Armed with your personal interest and knowledge of the item or area, and your belief in the product, you can find it easy to make compelling statements about the value and worth of this product. However, if the product, or product line in the case of many Internet marketing and network marketing business opportunities, is unfamiliar or widely varied, what can be done? OKAY! NOW WE ARE AT THE FORGOTTEN STEP. As pointed out above, most people who get into Internet marketing are so interested in the chance to make money online, that they tend to blow past their own likes and dislikes and buy into something that seems like it will do the trick. However, Internet marketing is not JUST about building a website, or getting one, and shooting it out there for people to find. After all, there is that silly little word that comes right after Internet..."marketing". Marketing involves telling people about how great your product is. If you just copy the text offered by everybody else offering the same or equivalent products, there is nothing to make your product stand out...which is the name of the game! This particularly applies to affiliate programs where everybody has a domain name, text ads, banners, and promotional materials that all appear to be the same! YOU HAVE TO STAND OUT! You make YOUR offering stand out by personally promoting, either through your own website, or by writing your own ads, or by creating your own banners...or by going to forums and other information exchange settings relevant to your product and placing YOUR OWN PERSONAL COMMENTS AND OBSERVATIONS there for the world to see, or by writing articles that can be linked to your Internet business website. Go back up the page a few inches. How do you create interesting, knowledgeable observations about a product? You start by being interested in it and knowledgeable about it! So, what do you do if you don't know THAT MUCH about your product? You buy it, use it, and then you tell people how much you love it! You explain the benefits that you PERSONALLY experienced using it. You say why you won't go back to the product you used to use. You explain the positive changes that have occurred in your life since you started using this product. People will be interested because you are giving a first hand account, and because you are INTERESTED in the product and SEEM TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT! Which would YOU rather hear? A. This is a great product which will keep your car running longer and save you money on gas (because somebody told me to say this). B. Here's my personal experience with XYZ synthetic motor oil: I was getting 15 miles to the gallon and then added XYZ to my crankcase. I added a few quarts to my mom's old jalopy and it jumped from 10 MPG to 20 MPG within a week. WHAT IF YOU DON'T USE THAT PARTICULAR PRODUCT OR THERE ARE TOO MANY PRODUCTS? Hey, I'm a 62 year old guy, and I definitely DO NOT use Avon, but my wife, my mother, my sister, my daughters, and my nieces all do! They think the world of it. Why can't I use THEIR comments, thoughts, and opinions? Here's another idea! If there IS a product I could use, why not try THAT PRODUCT just so I can make an honest statement about it. For example, Avon does have a few products for men. Why couldn't I buy just one and see how easy the ordering was, how quick the shipping was, how reasonable the price was, how attractively the item was packaged, how good it smelled...see my point? This has proven to be a formula for success for me.Everyone hiring a salesperson wants a superstar. If you are hiring a salesperson for 2007, you should have a list of superstar qualities your candidate must match. If we were talking, I might ask you; do you really need to hire a salesperson to get the results you want? In some cases a superstar employee could already be working for you. The employee might have the qualities you are looking for; you just need to make him or her a superstar. If you insisted on hiring a salesperson, I would want to know what sales attributes are on your list. Frankly, I would advise you to look at this investment like purchasing a new car or vehicle for the business. The questions are very similar since whatever you invest in; you will be riding and driving for awhile.Buying a vehicle and hiring a salesperson can become emotional decisions. You will make better decisions when you take the emotion out of it. I recommend you create a salesperson check list to help you make the right decision. Ben Franklin used the comparison check list to make his decisions, he was a smart Many people entering Internet marketing for the first time, and many who have been attempting to make money online for some time with only a series of failures or near misses to show for their pains, do not understand the power of choosing a niche, a market, and a product that fit well with their personal interests and experience. Whether you're job-hunting, or growing your business, or just striding into the exciting world of networking, you need to know how to talk. And listen. But beyond "how did you hear about this event?" how do you start a worthwhile networking conversation? It's not so hard - you just have to focus on the OTHER person. The first and biggest rule of making networking conversation is that it's a conversation, not an audio broadcast. Don't deliver an aural business card, in other words! What's more annoying than a conversation like this:YOU: (Spotting the nametag that says SALLY JONES on a nearby woman's lapel) So, Sally, what do you do in your business? By the way, I also DO Matching Advertising Gifts To The Client bout your product?Advertising gifts can be a great way to increase your business by getting your name out to clients and potential clients in a way that they will enjoy and appreciate. No one thinks twice about being handed a business card, however handing promotional coffee mugs to a potential client will have a great effect on the way that your client continues to think about you and about your business. It is your job to advertise yourself to your clients and to spread your own name and the name of your business to new clients and to refresh your business with old clients as well.Advertising gifts do not have to be expensive or complicated, either. Consider sending out a postcard with updates to your clients every so often. Make it interesting by having the face of the postcard be a great recipe that you and your family love this way you add that little extra personal touch to your campaign. If the postage is going up, send out two cent stamps to your clients along with a business card and a reminder that you are still available to meet their needs. One of the best places to be looking for external audit jobs these days is in public service. In fact, the government is hiring in all areas of finance, including internal and external audit jobs, risk management jobs, account management jobs, all the way down to payroll officers and ledger clerks. These days, the government is working hard to make those public sector jobs attractive to graduates, so if you’ve been looking to the private sector because you thought you’d get better benefits and wages there, the range of external audit jobs and other jobs in public finance may surprise you. There’s a general perception that government work simply doesn’t pay well, though it affords job stability and offers you a sense of accomplishment. It turns out that this notion doesn’t play well outside London.
