Inside A Company's News Release - Part One
Most investors read a company’s news releases, but don’t read between the lines to understand in which direction the company is heading. Too often, a company tries to say everything in the headline and the first paragraph. Why? Because they know, as we do, that most investors scan the headline, a few sentences and perhaps look at some drill intercepts or key technical data (which few really understand). Then, the investor looks at how the share price reacts to the news, rejoicing or complaining on a stock chat board. Often, key phrases or sentences are buried inside the release, sometimes near the bottom. These may give you a clue as to what is really happening with the company. We pulled up some recent news releases of several uranium companies we have been following to help investors read between the lines. Only a keen, ruthless appraisal of each news release, or a series of their news releases, could give you an accurate interpretation of how well the company is doing. Hopefully, the guidance which follows may help you better understand what is rea

So, let's review the elements to consider in the setting of your auction duration. Customer Lifetime Value - CLV - What Does it Really Mean?
Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) can get a little tricky, but I’ll try to make it simple. By now you’ve probably heard the term yet may not fully understand how to use it effectively, if at all. That’s because every “Tom, Dick and Mary Marketer” have done their best to make it more complicated than necessary. The hardest part of calculating CLV is figuring out exactly what your customers’ “lifetime” really is…. and the only accurate way to arrive at that number is by getting, storing and analyzing your customers’ data. Period. If you’ve been in business for a while, this should be easy to get, but if you’re a start-up you’re going to have to estimate this based on industry standards.Although there are several ways to arrive at CLV, the easiest is to calculate:1. The average length of time a customer stays your customer2. The number of transactions that an average customer will have with you during that time and3. The average dollar amount per transactionMultiply these together and you’ll arrive at a usable number

On eBay you run your auction for a specific duration. Currently, the options are 1, 3, 5, 7 or 10 days.

But which duration is best for your auction?

In this article, I'll give you some pointers designed to assist in answering the question.

You might wonder why you would ever wish to have less than the maximum exposure i.e. 10 days? Surely running your auction for the longest time would give bidders more opportunity, and therefore a higher sale price would result? Certainly eBay.com would appear to think so, as they currently charge a fee of $0.20 for the privilege of operating a 10 day auction.

However, if you have a very popular item or if you have many identical items to sell, it may pay you to have a shorter auction duration. Also, it pays to consider the end point of your auction very carefully. In addition, if you are running a Fixed Price auction, there’s a little trick you can employ to give you extra exposure.

So, let's review the elements to consider in the setting of your auction duration. The Mentor - Mate - Mentee
If you plan to succeed in today’s marketplace, there are three types of people you must have in your professional life. These persons will help you reach your professional goals, climb the corporate ladder, obtain professional success, and grow in all areas of your life. The Mentor will help you reach goals much quicker than expected and with fewer headaches. You should always strive to surpass your Mentor’s current professional level. Don’t seek a Mentor for what he/she has earned (i.e., house, car, degrees, clothes, etc.) but seek a Mentor for what he/she has learned (i.e., insight, wisdom, life’s lessons, character, knowledge, integrity). Remember, a Mentor is a learning curve cutter and is also a person who shares his/her experiences, knowledge and wisdom. ----- This is your time to receive. The Mate is a person who will be your business-building Mate or better yet your running Mate. The Mate is someone who is at a similar age and stage as you are relative to career, life and business. The Mate is a person who you will bounce ideas off igned to assist in answering the question.

Mark Twain once said the rumors of his death had been greatly exaggerated. The same may be said for the press release. It’s not dead, but its mission has evolved. Those PR practitioners who are spreading these death rumors would have you believe that press releases should never be written, nor distributed. I take issue with this old-school thinking. Now, inundating the media with press releases has not been a good practice since shortly after Edward Bernays opened the first PR firm in 1919. Any competent PR person has known for years that garnering media coverage almost never directly happens due to a press release. However, that is fodder for another article.Let’s talk about the evolution of the press release into a solid tool for helping organizations deliver key messages to multiple audiences in the digital age.In the not-so-distant pre-Internet past, press releases were aimed solely at trade and consumer media outlets. The media acted as the gatekeepers, taking your information and making decisions about how, or if, to use it. s more opportunity, and therefore a higher sale price would result? Affiliate Program Basics The most common use of the web for commercial means is in the promotion of either products or services. It is certainly no secret that most successful businesses include a website in their marketing campaigns. Many of them offer an affiliate program to further promote their business interests to a much larger audience by using the efforts of affiliates not employed by the company. Probably the most well know commission-based affiliate program on the web, Amazon.com, first launched in 1996, has enjoyed continual growth and has dominated its niche area of the Internet. If you don't have a service or product to sell online but you like the idea of having your own income-producing website you should consider affiliate-based e-commerce. An affiliate program is an agreement between a merchant and an affiliate. You send the merchant traffic; if they buy something you get paid a commission on the product, usually a percentage of its price. This process can be equated with the very old concept of providing a finders fee for referralwever, if you have a very popular item or if you have many identical items to sell, it may pay you to have a shorter auction duration. The higher the speed at which a salesperson moves through the sales cycle, regardless of the reason, will inversely affect his or her overall performance in terms of closing ratios, customer satisfaction statistics and referral business. Because of this fact, it is vital to establish the slowest effective speed for each individual prospect. It's quite simple really. Here is how to achieve it.Qualify for the available amount of time, not once, but twice. Throughout my sales management career, I would constantly feel compelled to remind the salespeople who I was managing that they needed to qualify for 'sufficient available time' just as much as they needed to qualify for needs, wants and budget, etc.It seems to me that, left to their own devices, most salespeople would omit this critical question on a regular basis, focusing instead on trying to land on a product quickly so that they could begin to 'sell'. This strategy can backfire and regularly does. As a salesperson you will know how long it addition, if you are running a Fixed Price auction, there’s a little trick you can employ to give you extra exposure.

So, let's review the elements to consider in the setting of your auction duration.

    a) Start/end day of auction

In my experience, for most categories, the weekend is by far the busiest viewing period on eBay. I would estimate that around 50% of views of my auctions take place on Saturday and Sunday. In setting auction duration, therefore, the weekend peak could be important to your success.

If you can arrange to end an auction on Sunday night, you get the benefit of those who wait until the end of the auction to bid, plus the enhanced viewing traffic numbers which appear during the weekend.

This means if you're posting an auction on Tuesday night, a 5 day auction could be good.

Having said that the weekend is the busiest for most categories, some could benefit from a midweek closing date. Items in this category would include those in which goods are offered for business users.
