It was a day that will go down in history. The date was November 2005, right smack dab in the middle of the Holiday electronic crunch, and like the rest of the free world, I was thinking about buying an Xbox 360 via an auction website. They certainly weren't available at retail...(stupid Micro$oft!) Anyway, I did a Google search, and on the right side of the results page was an advertisement for “Get A Free Xbox 360!”. My first thought was "sweet" then it went to “Hmmm… what’s the catch?”. I clicked on the link and found the requirements to be filling out some forms, signing up for some free stuff, getting a credit card, and the like. It sounded quite do-able for a free Xbox 360.
First, I started by signing up for a free games site. (Who doesn’t like free games???) Next, I continued and fulfilled the terms of a couple more offers, but after I had signed up for a free month of efax, I came to the realization that I would have to sign up for satellite TV and a subscription to harlequin romance novels. I had no real interest in either of those services, so I stopped and counted my losses, which in fact, were none whatsoever. I hadn’t spent any money, and continued onto eBay in my quest for an unattainable-at-retail game console. A couple months later, I figured out that someone had probably made around $100 from me signing up for the free trials. One Hundred Dollars!

The very small percentage that participates in affiliate marketing is right now ahead of the times. It has not yet reached its peak. If you go and look in the entrepreneur section of any major bookstore, you will see many products on "Making Money on EBay". However there are none on Internet marketing through means of adsense, clickbank, Amazon, and other major businesses.
The time for affiliate marketing is now. Get involved, the outside world is bound to discover our little secret soon enough.
