    I recently (April - May 2007) started checking out affiliate programs in the Google sponsored listings, and entering details into an Excel Spreadsheet. And I discovered something that shocked me. Upon checking the same listings 3 weeks later, only about 1 affiliate in 20 was still listed!

    This meant that about 95 percent of affiliates using pay-per-click advertising were giving up within 3 weeks. So they were almost certainly losing money. So, at most, only about 5 percent of affiliate marketers are still making a profit.

    However it is still possible to find profitable affiliate programs. You can collect details about affiliate programs in the Google and/or Yahoo sponsored listings. Enter the details into a Spreadsheet, and come back a few weeks later to check if the same affiliates are still trading. However this takes weeks of research to identify just one
