A Simple Sales Strategy: Ask Questions
Ask questions. Ask questions. Ask questions. In case you didn't get this, ask questions! Asking questions is one of the most powerful keys to successful selling. It really is. So, why should you ask questions?Ask questions to find out if you can help/serve your potential client. By asking questions, you'll be able to find out if your solution will help them at this point in time. It may be the right time and then again it may not. You'll know by asking questions.Ask questions to qualify. By asking questions you will find out if the person has a proble
spend spend! The more you spend the happier you will be. I am just as guilty as everyone else. I remember buying a new fangled telescoping broom/mop/squeegee for the low price of $15.95. The first time we used it the crazy thing exploded. I am not kidding! The thing exploded into fifty pieces in my hands. Another $15.95 flushed down the toilet.

Pebbles in Your Shoe Don't Only Hurt your Foot But Cause Back and Hip Problems!
CIO Magazine ran an article entitled, "Ten Mistakes CIO's Too Often Make" written by Susan H. Cramm, former CIO and vice president of IT at Taco Bell and CFO and executive vice president at Chevys, a Taco Bell subsidiary.I was thunderstruck by her ninth mistake---Pretend that your organizational weeds are really untended flowers. My mind immediately went to a comparison with what it is like to spend a day walking with a pebble in your shoe. If you haven't done this before, imagine a pebble in your shoe, not just for 5 seconds, but what I is like to hav
We have all fallen prey to that awesome salesman that convinces us that we cannot live without their new and improved product. We spent the money, got the product, tried it and maybe we used it or maybe we threw it away. Even if we used it, we had problems with it and we got fed up with the damn fool thing. Ever order anything from one of those home shopping television stations? Then you might know what I am talking about.

We have been conditioned to believe that if something is new it must be improved. Ask anyone that bought Windows ME if they thought it was "improved?" The Recycling Bin of history is filled with glorious failures that were touted as the solution to all problems from customer relationship management to baldness.

In this article I will give you the greatest gift you have ever received for free. Hope you use it. Recite with me: "Just because it is the latest, does not mean it's the greatest." Now, say that about ten times until you believe it. Don't scoff or laugh. I am serious. I want you to take a mental inventory of the number of times you fell for hype and spent money or time on some product that was new. Don't limit this to just technology; include every aspect of your life from cars to hairbrushes. Be honest.

If you are like most people then the answer should surprise you. We buy an awful lot of junk in this country. That is part of what it means to be a good American! And if you buy it with a credit card, even better. Spend, spend spend! The more you spend the happier you will be. I am just as guilty as everyone else. Required Disclosure to Foreign Investors
At one point the Federal Trade Commission had considered that United States based franchisors were to provide franchise disclosures to the potential buyers of foreign countries. This of course is problematic since it is widely known that foreign based companies often steal us trade secrets and copy products and business methods. The Federal Trade Commission agrees which is interesting because most government agencies are calling for additional transparency, which is allowing our foreign competitors. It is almost as if US government agencies are purposely trying to

    Managing Resistance to Change
01.Sometime back this author had written an article titled “ Are your employees leaving the organizations in disgust? Apply Change Management practices”. While discussing about the various aspects of Change Management concepts, it is informed that the employees, for obvious reasons, generally dislike changes brought in by the management, as they do not like to come out of the existing practices. This article makes an attempt to demystify the resistance to changes by the employees, besides explaining why do they develop such resistance to changes .It is also d

    Customer Service You Can Keep
When we ordered our new cooker we were delighted with our purchase. We had been shopping around for a few weeks and had found a stylish piece of equipment with all the features we needed. We were also pleased with the helpful and friendly attitude of the salesman, even when we declined to pay for the extended warranty. The one cloud on the horizon was that when I got home, I discovered that I had lost my wallet. I phoned the store and was told nothing had been handed in. I took up the invite to leave my telephone number in case the wallet turned up. This may

To Meet or Not to Meet - What are the Questions?
Meetings can be a total waste of time or a powerful and productive communication tool that solve problems, stimulate ideas, promote team spirit and generate action. The results lie totally in how they are run. Organized and well-managed meetings will inevitably produce effective results. Whereas, meetings that are poorly managed lack purpose and focus are a total waste of an organization’s time and money. From my observations working with hundreds of different companies, I have noticed that people seem to be meeting more, enjoying it less and frustrated th

However, while this may be true for the average consumer, a business has to be much smarter. As a decision maker for your company you must make smarter choices. Don't get sucked in by hype, marketing, public relations or word of mouth. Remember, chances are you employ the same types of tactics when you sell your product or service! You must be smarter than that if your business is to survive.

Examine every significant business purchase from as many angles as possible. Discuss this with your managers and the various departments that will be directly impacted by this new system. Spend some money and consult experts in the field. If the product you are buying is impressively expensive (what they call in college business courses a "capital expenditure") then you should find a technology consulting company and get their opinions.

Now, here's the hook and the guarantee that they will be honest. Tell them from the beginning that they will never, ever, under any circumstances get the sale contract for this system. They can charge you for their time but they will never make a penny from selling you this product you are researching. This is a great acid test. Some consultants will outright tell you they won’t do it. Most consultants are really resellers in disguise. Usually they will offer you their services for free in exchange for a lucrative equipment contract. Don’t be fooled, these are the ultimate wolves in sheep’s clothing. By informing them that they will not get the contract
