Since the Geology of the area is so intriguing, University of Kansas Geology Field Camp, is also there. Originally the area had a coal mine too, which was shut down many years ago.

Even several John Wayne Movies were filmed in the Royal Gorge area, as well as many modern day movies at the old prison, which is now a medium security prison and is in full use today. The Prison Museum is a must see and ranks up with Alcatraz Prison Museum and Folsom Prison Museum.

We also thought that Florence was an excellent Market. Florence is located 9 miles east of Canon City and has potential for industrial and commercial locations. They have adequate water, up-to-date planning and zoning regulations, superb small-town atmosphere
