How Harnessing the Power of Headlines Can BOOST Profits for Your Business
Marketing guru Gene Schwartz wrote: "Your headline has only one job – to stop your prospect and compel him to read the second sentence of your ad."You can apply that to any marketing piece you write, including print ads, brochures, emails, web pages, letters and more. Without a compelling headline most readers will stop right there, and then discard the rest. And your message will nose-dive into oblivion.Think about it, if you run an ad in your local paper, do you think anyone

    Managing an Elevator Cash Flow
Jannice K., a past Virginia resident, now California resident, worked in Burger King for ten years. Back when I was a junk food addict, she passed me the bag and drink through the drive through window. Occasionally, I would go inside to eat. We became friends and soon had regular times together early afternoons during her break. It wasn't long before I discovered Jannice’s real buried passion was grooming dogs. She sparkled whenever the topic came up.Later Jannice and I worked tog
A question I am often asked by my clients is should I hire someone who can sell but lacks industry experience; or should I search for someone who has been around the industry and has good product knowledge.

I advise them to hire a re who can sell, and teach them the specifics of the industry. Here is why.

I recently delivered am appointment setting program at a company in a vertical I do a lot of work in. In the audience was a lady whom I trained at a competitor some six months ago. Before she came over to peak with I remembered her clearly. She was very outgoing, and I remember she spoke to me at length when we first met, talking to me about her experience, and the challenges she faced in selling the products and services of the company.

Sales Success and the Power of Why
Obviously, it goes without saying that your goals must be written. Once you have accomplished this, the second part of the goal setting process must be for you to determine WHY you want to achieve your goals. Now here is where you need to turn your own sales skills upon yourself. You cannot simply state that you want to achieve your goals to make money, or to keep your job. You have to go deeper. Why do you want more money...? You want more money so you can ______. Why is _______ so important
    roduct knowledge.

    Being An Innovative Entrepreneur
A young up and coming entrepreneur will possess many qualities in varying degrees, however one important trait of being an innovative entrepreneur is having innovation. The differences between people can be amazing, how many times have you looked with envy at someone who can come across a problem and quickly find a solution to work around that problem? Or see someone take a product or service and give it a little tweak to make it even better? If you have ever stopped in your tracks and looked

Do You Have Any Gaps in Your Employment History?
Have you ever had a time when a gap in employment history had to be explained to a prospective employer? Even when the situation is easily explained, such as going back to school for a college degree, it is often tricky to find the right way to approach this topic on your resume. The first thing you need to know is that it must be dealt with. Employers do not like to see a gap in employment history. They become suspicious when they see one. Your best means of handling this is to be honest

    What is Your Brand Worth?
How would it feel to control your career and business because you have a strong personal brand? Companies spend zillions of dollars to ensure you think of them first. In fact, their goal is for you to think only of their product and to evangelize to your friends. How many people ask for a Coke when they don’t necessarily want a Coke? What is the global Coca Cola brand worth? I love branding, thinking about this brings a tear to my eye, can you pass a Kleenex? What about you? What is your

It didn't strike me till this last encounter, that she had mentioned that she had deep experience in the industry. She knows a lot of people both on the customer side and the various providers. It was clear that she had a good understanding of the product, in fact her schooling was directly related to the industry, and she had kept her knowledge up by attending a number of continuous education programs offered by associations active in her industry. She was a keep participant, open to learning, mostly due to the fact that despite her "industry experience", she had only made her target once over 12 years, with four different companies, the current employer being her fifth in the industry.

What really got me to think about this more were tow prospect meetings I had the following day. One was with a VP of Sales in a "highly specialized" industry, who made a point of telling me that he only hired people who have product and
