Time for Change Management; Franchisees Too Quick to Blame Franchisors for Their Own Failures
In reviewing the complaints of franchisees over the last 20-years we see some similarities to the over all society as a whole. Franchisees are often too quick to Blame their Franchisors for their Own Failures, insufficient capital and poor use of business acumen. Why is this you wonder? Well, although few talk about this, I believe it has a lot to do with the way our nation is leaning towards a socialist view point, coupled with such notable infamous reality Television Series such as; The Apprentice, with Donald Trump. It is much about the blame game and to that p
iness. It doesn’t say how wonderful the business, service or product is, it gives verifiable facts.

For example, let's say that you're a copywriter. You've gone solo, and have just started a new copywriting services business. So you've decided to send out a news release announcing your new busine

    Outsourcing Vs. Outsourcing
Maybe it is something that I have been hearing about in the news or perhaps something I have discovered during my four year freelance career: outsourcing is a *big issue* for everyone both for Americans who are affected by this practice and by those workers peddling their wares.Lately, I have been turning down jobs left and right when it is clear that the employers want nothing more than ultra cheap labor. I suppose the proliferation of $3 per article writers from India and elsewhere has emboldened some people to produce proposals geared toward that segment of th
You sent out a news release. Then a newspaper or a magazine (or both, oh happy day) published an article about you based on the release. Whoopee! Break out the Dom Perignon!

It's true, an article about your business does wonders for your business. Not only do you get an increase in business, but you can leverage the article in many ways. You can create reprints of the article to send to current clients and prospects, and you can use the article in your advertising. The article gives you instant credibility.

So how do you get all this free advertising? You're well on the way to that newspaper or magazine article if you realize that a news release is NOT AN AD. It's NEWS about your business. If your news release has a whiff of advertising about it, it will it hit journalists' round files faster than it took you to lick the stamp and paste it on the envelope.

Unfortunately many small business owners, and even many copywriters, are unclear about the difference between advertising and a news release.

So what’s the difference between a news release and an ad?

A news release gives the FACTS. Just the plain, unvarnished, unembellished facts. It doesn't try to sell the business. It doesn’t say how wonderful the business, service or product is, it gives verifiable facts.

For example, let's say that you're a copywriter. You've gone solo, and have just started a new copywriting services business. So you've decided to send out a news release announcing your new busines

    Public Relations for Divorce Lawyers
Most people hate lawyers and that is truly unfortunate for the legal profession, although many people say it is their own fault. One type of area of law, which is practiced that often gets people to hate lawyers are those that practiced divorce law.Since 65% of those who have been married have had at least one divorce, most of them had used a lawyer to get the divorce, so you can understand that half or more of them will be very upset with the deal they got and all will be upset at the amount of money they had to pay the divorce lawyer to represent them.S

What Franchising Founders Know that Political Analysts Do Not
If a founder of a franchise company always guesses right on future political issues and regional political issues better than all the political analysts, why is this? Well consider if you will a franchising company where the founder built from a small company and set up franchises in 30 or more states.Next consider how they developed these markets and increased market share thru understand buying behaviors, customer desires, competition, regional demographics and trends. Such knowledge is not so available to political analysts and few of them have been to every s

Managers: Is PR Crucial to Your Success?
The answer is a loud YES if you’re a business, non-profit, government agency or association manager. Because somewhere out there is an external audience or two whose behaviors can help or hinder your achieving your managerial objectives. And THAT spells c-r-u-c-i-a-l.Public relations enters your equation as you begin the action planning and resource assembly needed to alter individual perception leading to changed behaviors among your most important outside audiences. Then, as a manager, PR goes on to help you persuade those key outside folks to yo

For example, let's say that you're a copywriter. You've gone solo, and have just started a new copywriting services business. So you've decided to send out a news release announcing your new business.

The fact that you've started a copywriting services business is a fact. The name of your business and its address is a fact. The hours you're open for business: fact.

A biographical note about yourself gives facts.

A statement that you make, in quotes, as part of the news release is also a fact. The release could include this paragraph:

'Felicity Jones said: "I'm looking forward to becoming a part of the Ocean Park business community. I've been introducing myself to local business owners, who have expressed strong interest in my services." '

Remember, a news release contains: FACTS.

A news release, because it's NEWS, is also written in newspaper style, that is, in Inverted Pyramid style.

    => Inverted Pyramid style

A news release is written in "inverted pyramid" style. Imagine a pyramid. Stand it on its apex. You now have the broad base uppermost. This signifies that the base of the story, or the root of the story, comes first.

Therefore, news releases have this structure: a headline, and the first paragraph giving the most important information. The first paragraph tells the entire story.
