Business Management Case Study; Should Franchisee Names, Addresses, Phone be Listed in UFOCs
One of the most important things in business is to protect your company's information from competitors and personal information of employees, vendors and executives from Identity Theft and yet Franchisors are required to put personal information in the UFOC Uniform Franchise Offering Circulars. It is a catch 22 for Business Executive Management, on one hand you must follow the rules and on another hand you are being set up for Identity Theft. What is the answer? Well the answer is to be very careful who you disclose this information too. Although realize that there are now UFOC resellers and government agencies which give this data out online? Ridiculous indeed, on one hand we are to protect the consumer by giving out disclosure documents and then on the other hand we are to protect the consumer, employees and in this case franchisees from Identity Theft?Personally I do not think ANY franchisees names or phone numbers should be listed due to Identity Theft anyway. Those names and addresses are also used by telemarketers, email SPAMMERS, lawyers trying to fish for class action lawsuits and competition uses them too. I have looked up the names and addresses of ALL my competitors who were franchises to find out where they were and shop them and I know for a FACT they did it to me too. Indeed that is why I used that data, because they

What Is The Internet Proxy Server
The Internet proxy server is the server that is situated between the client application and an actual server. The Internet proxy server has the role of intercepting every request to the actual server and see if the request can be fulfilled by it. If that is not possible, then it must forward the request to the other server. If used in an enterprise the Internet proxy server besides the role that it plays in all situations, also have the role of ensuring control and security. This Internet proxy server is linked to a gateway server. This has the role of separating the network of the enterprise from other networks. The Internet proxy server is also associated with a firewall server that is used to protect the network of the enterprise from any intrusions from the outside. The Internet proxy server receives requests from web pages or any other Internet services from the user. Then if the filtering requirements are passed, the Internet proxy server checks its cache for other downloaded pages( this assuming that the Internet proxy server is a cache server as well ). If the web pages that are required are then found by the Internet proxy server, they are returned to the user. In this case there is no need for the Internet proxy server to forward the request. In case the page can not be found in the cache, then the Internet proxy server
The next time a hotel contract lands on your desk, read it twice. First, read what is there and identify the terms that need to be rewritten, changed, or deleted. Then, read it for what is not there and needs to be added. The following checklist will help you determine what to look for and what is missing. (Note: This information is not intended to be “legal advice.” Meeting planners and hotel managers should consult a qualified attorney to review all contract issues.)

    CONTRACT SECTIONS

    General Contract Issues

    • Date of contract initiation.

    • Accurate and complete legal names of both parties, addresses, and contact information as well as the name of the meeting. Be sure the contracting party is not listed as the name of the meeting; they are often not the same.

    • Actual dates of the meeting, not the dates of the room block.

    • Statement of whether the contract is a first or second option. A first option should specify the date by which the contract must be signed and returned to the hotel, after which date the option will expire and the contract may have to be renegotiated. A second option should include the above as well as the date by which the hotel must reply to you after receiving the signed contract (typically three business days) and notify you of its decision.

    How to Manage Your Boss
With all of the attention today on effective management techniques and the need for people skills, it's surprising that one of the most critical areas to getting ahead in your career doesn't get much attention - the fine art of managing your boss.Managing your boss isn't a matter of "apple polishing" or playing politics. It involves working together to generate the best solutions for you, your boss and your company. Many talented people are stuck in the old paradigm of expecting their boss to manage them. They take a passive, reactive stance, waiting for direction and support. They may complain about a bad boss, but do little to turn things around themselves. They don't know the small but essential steps they can take to establish a productive dialogue. Don't fall into this trap. Don't assume that your boss knows what you need in order to do your job well. Don't assume that your actions are in sync with his or her expectations and priorities. Stay in touch. Communicate. Check things out.Your Most Critical Working RelationshipYour boss links you to the rest of your company. When your relationship works well, your priorities will be consistent with your company's goals and you'll be able to advance more rapidly in your career. If you want to influence the outcome of your relationship w

Finding Proactive Solutions: A Key to Demonstrating Your Management Fitness
In my book Talking Points: 25 Tips for Clear, Credible Communication, Tip #17 states: “Managers and professionals in positions of responsibility got there by finding solutions to problems. They didn’t rely on someone else to come up with the remedy. They worked to find solutions proactively.” Those of us in positions of responsibility can demonstrate our management fitness by looking for and adding a proactive step whenever we encounter potential problems. Adding that proactive step demonstrates our ability to take responsibility for the outcome of situations. Nothing speaks “management” more than this.Finding creative solutions to unusual and routine situations helps develop your management skills. In addition to taking that proactive step ourselves, part of our responsibility as managers is teaching our staff how to do this for themselves. Most of us in our careers have worked for a manager who tended to monitor every detail of our work. The result is we felt no empowerment to seek solutions on our own and to find methods of handling problems without that person’s involvement. The problem this sort of micro-monitoring causes is lack of motivation on the part of the employee to seek out alternative, workable solutions.Usually a micro-monitoring manager has an idea in mind about the best process or best solution when deal

Relationship Building - 5 Tips and 5 Questions
And is isn't hard - it's more about focusing on people, who they are and what interests them. And that's just where you spend your time. About them - not you, not your business. Create partnerships.5 tips Be natural - by being yourself, you will build relationships with ease. Trust yourself - let yourself go. Be open, share your feelings, but mostly, listen to others. Ask questions - you will find out more about others by listening to what they have to say, so be nosy, ask open questions, find out stuff. Then ask more about what they have been telling you. Show integrity - by ensuring that others can trust you, by following through with promises and being discreet, people will be more open with you and that is the doorway to great relationships. Do what you say you will do. Match - nothing helps build relationships by matching tone, volume of voice. By taking the same body posture. By paying attention to their eyes (whilst nor staring). Have fun - nothing works better to build relationships than by having a foundation of a fun time together. So laugh, take time to 'play' and be informal. Take part. 5 Questions What do you know about your people outside the business? When was the last time you asked them about something important to them? What percentage of

    Room Rates

    • Year quoted. If rates are quoted for any year other than the current year, that year should be specified.

    • Future rates. If rates are not definite yet, indicate the formula to be used and when final rates will be established (usually 12 months out). Use at least two factors in the formula, such as percentage off rack rate, maximum percentage increase per year, or the Consumer Price Index, and state that final rates will be the lesser of the two formulas.

    • Breakdown of rates by type of room/suite, single/double, deluxe, and government rate. State the percentage blocked in each rate category.

    • Applicable taxes (sales, occupancy), service charges, and gratuities.

    • Applicable charges for extra person in room.

    • Currency. If the contract was initiated in another country, the rates are usually quoted in that country’s currency.

    • Ensure that final rates are not subject to change.

    Complimentary and Other Negotiated Concessions

    • One complimentary room per 50 revenue-producing rooms actually utilized. Spell out how the comps are calculated (on a cumulative or per-night basis) and whether they can be credited
