    Risk Versus Reward
In all investing situations, we will be confronted with both risk and reward. I cannot think of any investments that offer no risk with big reward. The most common investment opportunity I have seen is low risk - low reward, low risk- high reward, big risk - big reward, big risk - low reward.Big risk - low reward opportunities are everywhere. Buying a stock at any price will constitute a big risk - low reward investment opportunities. The odd is even worse than gambling where the house has a 55-60% chance of winning. You might be wondering how you can quantify risk. Reward is easier to quantify. If you buy stock A at X price and it has risen to Y, then your reward is the difference between your selling price and purchase price. Some risk can be quantify while others aren't.Let's use an example for clarification purpose. What is the risk of buying Merck Co & Inc. (MRK)? The risk is well publicized. Investors' risk would be the potential Vioxx liability that stems from lawsuits. How much does MRK has to pay? Nobody knows for sure. We can only estimate. Some says $ 5 Billion. Another says $ 50 Billion. This is uncertainty and this is risk. You can reduce this risk by reading more and then make a conservative estimate regarding this issue. Are there other risks associated with Merck? Sure. Patent expiration is one. Its best se

Directions For Success In Real Estate Investing
The one thing I want you to think about as we are starting the New Year is the single most important factor in all of business. Take and throw everything you know out the window because without this one possession, you'll end up more lost than driving down an old country, dirt road in Alabama. It's called direction...Direction for you and your business...Since it's the beginning of a new year, you should initiate the year off on the right foot. Take the next few days to work on your real estate business instead of in it. What do I mean here? Shut off all the phones and conduct some serious soul searching to figure out what it is you're really looking for from your real estate business. See, it's time for you to stop tiptoeing along and get to work. This can be your year to stop being a "lookie-lou" and become a real investor. More on that in a sec but let me ask you -"What direction are you heading in right now?" Are you where you want to be in life? And no I'm not trying to sound like the latest Geico commercial with Tony Little yelling, "Yeah Baby, you can do it."I'm being totally serious here. See, a few years ago, when I worked at the J-O-B, I had a Franklin Covey planner that I tracked all of my goals, my appointments, heck my entire life in that one little book. Anyway, after moving a little o
Problems. What are they and why do we have them. Where do they come from and what can we do about them.

Before we can discuss problems from an intelligent perspective let's first some basic criteria as to their nature.

    First. Everyone has them
    Second. No one wants them
Third. They always come when we want them the least.
Fourth. They always come from the direction in life that needs our attention the most.
Fifth. You can't run and hide from them for very long.
Sixth. Other people always seem to have fewer or easier problems.
Seventh. Problems are neither positive or negative. They are neutral.
Eighth. It doesn't matter what you call them i.e. opportunities, situations or challenges or problems.
Ninth. They are not a respecter of ignorance or arrogance.
Tenth. Once you solve one, there is another one waiting around the next corner.

Have you ever noticed that a problem to one person, regardless of its nature or gravity, is often not perceived as a problem to another person. Have you ever noticed that often the simplest routines and issues in life are traumatic problems for some people. And have you ever noticed how some people are crushed by problems while other people get better, stronger and wiser because of their problems.

Let me give you a recent example out of my life.

I recently spent several days in a Chicago Hospital. It was a visit that I was unaware that I would be making until the very day of my admittance. Seven days confined to a hospital bed with a variety of tubes and hoses connected to me limiting my freedom and mobility. There were constant interruptions and distractions. I had hoped to get some writing done during this time period, but no such luck. Since my philosophy of life is that everything that comes into my life is a teacher, I spent the first few days reflecting on what were the lessons in this emergency situation.

Setting Expectations = Failure in MLM?
If I've said it once, I've said it a million times...one of the biggest reasons that people fail in MLM is because those in charge of the companies do not set expectations correctly.One-Half of the Idea of Simplified Duplication is based on the theory that you should be shown exactly what you are going to have to do in order to get others in your business BEFORE you actually join.In other words, your expectations are set correctly and there are few if any surprises once you join.As I've said numerous times:Most companies get you hyped up on the product/service and the intricacies of the compensation plan as opposed to getting down to "brass tax" and showing you what's to be expected of you in order for you to achieve success.Let’s put this in a little bit different light:If I say to you..."Hey Tim - all you have to do is walk 1 mile and give me $100 and you'll make $1-Mil1ion"You would probably say to me:"Devon, you've got yourself a deal!"But what if once you started walking you realized that:25% of the journey was through an area infested with poisonous snakes 25% of the journey was in blazing heat 25% of the journey was in freezing cold ...and 25% of the journey was through an area with quicksandIt would be a little bit tougher now, wouldn't it?<

When Your Back Hurts Everything Hurts
Back pain, when gone untreated, can become a serious problem.Your brain, being complex as it is, is always informed when there is back pain, or any body pain for that matter. This is done by your body sending messages to the brain through the spinal cord and then the brain sending messages back in return. The reasons for back pain are not always as easy to discover as you may think. However, for the most part, the pain either has to do with muscles, bones, or disks. The pain is usually caused if you have pulled an item far too heavy, or you have simply pulled hard on something that didn’t even move. By pulling hard on an object it is very easy to pull a muscle. The muscles at play are usually the Latissimus Dorsi, Teres (major and minor) and the Trapezius. If you feel like the pain is focused more on your upper back than anything else, then it probably in the thoracic region (upper back). Damage to that region is frequently caused by muscle strains or harm to ligaments.Although if your back is hurting a lot and if you think that the pain is muscle related then there’s not much you can do but sit back, relax, and wait it out. The pain will eventually go away all by itself.Another cause of back pain is when it has to do with bone damage. Basically, the back is made up of the spinal cord. The spinal cord is made

Anti Spam at the Enterprise Level
Every one of us knows how spam impacts us. Every day we either get a ton of spam - or if we're fairly well protected by spam filters - only a few pieces.Like a large number of people, I don't use any spam filters. Ah. You think I'm insane. But wait. My problem is that I get a lot of email from marketing types which I want to receive. And the spam filtering software is not very sensitive to my needs. Even white-listing doesn't always work. So, I prefer to get all that spam and just delete it.Now this solution can work for me despite the time it takes to delete my daily overdose of spam. However, at the enterprise level, it's a whole different story. If you have a relatively large internal network with even a modest number of email users, you're looking at a major problem. And the more users you have, the worse the problem is.Sure, you can put up software on the mail server. Works, kind of. But pretty soon you may find you need to upgrade the mail server. And that's after you already put it on a stand-alone machine.Rather than continuing to buy ever more expensive software to run on a machine that keeps needing to be upgraded, you might want to think about a dedicated anti spam appliance. To give you some idea of what's possible let's take a look at Barracuda Networks dedicated anti spam appliance. Call Center Solutions for CRM and Contact Center Professionals
Like anything else in the business world, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) requires a necessity to stay in-tune with the latest communications technology. You either adapt to stay in the game or fall way behind the competition. This statement especially rings true for call centers as new technologies, applications and call center solutions are often introduced to improve daily and long-term operations. With that said, it is one thing to understand the importance of having this dedication to learn about the latest call center solutions and quite another to actually do so.Learning about the latest advanced call center solutions can be a daunting task for several reasons. To begin with, not everyone is accustomed to or experienced with call center solutions and terminology. Common terms like ACD, VOIP and IVR, as examples, may appear complicated, foreign and intimidating to people unfamiliar with the industry.Furthermore, where can those unfamiliar turn to gain a basic understanding of CRM terms and consequently learn about new call center solutions? With so many CRM vendors online nowadays, finding the right resource can seem like a full-time job in itself. Here are some key things to look for when searching for an online CRM resource that will not only provi

The next few days were spent in careful observation of a variety of healthcare providers and patients. Since I do a great deal of work for clients in the healthcare field, this was a wonderful opportunity to experience first hand a great deal of situations that one day will become illustrations in a speech or seminar.

The last few days were spent reading, writing and thinking. I wrote a number of articles for this newsletter, several chapters in my new book on relationships and I read two great books.

Looking back the time, in spite of the interruptions, was very productive. This hospital stay was an inconvenience. But it was also a great opportunity to learn a great deal about life, myself and my world.

Other people that I chatted with saw only the negatives not the lessons.

Let me give you one other great illustration that a fellow speaker shared with me several years ago.

He was driving on a turnpike and stopped to pay the toll when he noticed that the attendant seemed unhappy, sour and generally unpleasant. When he asked him what was wrong, he didn't have allot of time for a lengthy dialogue, the attendant replied, "how would you like to spend eight hours a day in a vertical coffin?" Several miles up the road he stopped for another toll and found a young man smiling, happy and with a generally pleasant disposition. He asked him why he was so happy and his reply was, "mister this is such a great job, I get to spend all day in a classroom listening to self improvement audio tapes." What a contrast of attitudes about problems.

Well let's get to the discussion at hand.

What are problems. Why don't you select which definition you like best.

One, they are a wake-up call to change something
