    This serves two purposes, first, most of us, have a routine, I am going to go to the gym and walk on the treadmill for an hour and that is what we do. In-and-of itself this is not bad, as consistency in the gym is the only way to make gains, but sometimes we all need a break from the norm and this is the perfect solution.

    Second, by going to the park as opposed to the gym, you will be stressing muscles you might have forgotten you have, and this is a wonderful way to build those muscles up. Also, and this does not get much play, but I’ve felt for a long time that while the gym is a great place to build muscle, we all need to incorporate real world activities into our routines to kind of balance out that gym work, like cutting the grass and gardening.

    For those of you who do not have kids, but would still like to take advantage of this form of training for variety or simply greater fitness, here are a couple of things you can do. Try doing a set of chin-ups and then going for a sprint, walk back to where ever it is you are doing your chins and do a set of pull-ups, and do another sprint. The sprints don’t have to be all out, some can be slower, some faster, use your imagination and don’t make any hard-and-fast rules.

    Try doing this about ten times, trust me, you will be feeling it come tomorrow morning. For those of you who are not big on chins and pull-ups, give this a try.
