Concierge Services Gaining Popularity at Residences
Residential Concierge Services at Las Vegas, New York, Florida highrises are among latest and greatest amenities for upscale properties. Entrepreneurs from the hospitality industry are creating their own services to meet this demand.Concierge services are an increasingly valuable amenity being offered by upscale, high-end residential properties. Like corporations, real estate sees the value in procurement and retention. Residential concierge services are more frequently added as an extension of their r

Buy-in to Performance Measurement - How to Get People Involved in Measuring Performance
Getting people involved in measuring and improving performance is one of the greatest challenges (and greatest enablers) in designing measures that lead to improvement. But just inviting them to a workshop, or telling them to come up with measures, rarely works. Here are my favourite ways to authentically involve people, in a way that has meaning for them.Idea #1: ask them what their biggest obstacles are to doing their job wellWhat will get people's attention more than talking about what bugs them
As indicated in my previous TQM article titled: TQM Implementation Project published on May 13, 2006 02:48:20 pm, I have shared issues pertaining to Data Collection, Trend Charting, Pareto Analysis and Why-Why Analysis in my last article – ANALYZE PHASE. In this article, there are two steps to deal with, namely; Plan the Improvement and Implement the Improvement Plan in the D.A.I.C. Methodology.

IMPROVE PHASE: Based on various analysis of causes of the problem, planning and execution of plan to improve or resolve the root causes of the problem is the key objective of this IMPROVE Phase. There are several tools involve in doing so, namely:-

    1. Brainstorming of action / solution
    2. Selection Grid
    3. Benchmarking
    4. Cost-Benefit Analysis
    5. Control lot and testing
    6. Pilot the action / solution
    7. Force-Field Analysis

How To Translate Past Life Experience into Business
As a self-publisher, you become a business person. Your book is your product. Your readers are your customers. When I first made my career change, I didn’t think I had any business savvy. After all, I had been in a social service agency. I did court reports, visited children and parents, and handled emergencies. I was not a welfare worker, so I didn’t deal with money. True enough, I did budgets and clothing orders, but overall, headquarters handled the money. My commerce was in the arena of human suffering

Why Do I Work for Myself?
Towards the end of the month when payroll is due and the bank account is running low, I ask myself why I like being an entrepreneur, why I turn down offers that pay me two to three times more than what I take home today and why I think that in the long run working for myself is the way to go?I work for myself for a long list of reasons. The most important of these are:1. More control over my destiny, actions and choices. As an employee you will come across an opportunity where your

Employee Time Clocks - Enter The Modern World
For decades, businesses and factories monitored the working hours of their employees using time clocks. A particular favorite was the punch card system, where the employee had to insert their card into the time clock, so their hours could be stamped on the card. The payroll officer would then collect these cards each week and pay the employees accordingly. It's a simple system, but unfortunately it's also very easy to cheat. Joe Bloggs is a bit late today? That's okay, John Doe can pop his card in the

    Hourly Rates - No Thanks
When was the last time you gave a passing thought to your pricing? It’s no secret that how you charge for your services can either make or break you. It can mean the difference between a mediocre and a successful business. In my experience, most people don’t spend enough time thinking strategically about what pricing strategy they should use.The majority of people in service businesses - and especially people who work independently - establish an hourly rate. They use a process called “reverse competition

Case Study in Benchmarking I have no intention to elaborate the power of benchmarking but to share what can it be when it is used as a tool in improvement projects. There are two aspects namely:

      a) Benchmark the result Team has to benchmark the result of the material loss if possible from the same industries. As far as Material Loss Reduction team is concerned, they are not able to obtain information from similar industry or competitors. However, team is able to gain access to other sister plant for similar products. This is extremely helpful for the team to use it for the purpose of setting improvement targets. At least, team can comprehend the performance gap within the sister plants

      b) Benchmark the process As an alternative source of information, team has to benchmark how the other sister plant able to control the Material loss to the percentage that is much lower than the team’s project. A trip to the sister plants seems to be logical. However, the team has to make preparation before the visit so that they can be very focus on what to look for in term of the proces
