How to Create an Information Plan ntry”[14] in the Attica countryside) and even urged capitulating to Laced?monia’s demands. According to Diodorus Siculus, “Athenians, now that the trees of their countryside had been cut down (by the Laced?monians who ravaged their lands) and the plague was carrying off great numbers, were plunged into despondency and became angry with Pericles…”[15] This emboldened Pericles’ political opponents, Kleon, Simmias, and Lakratidas, to bring suit against him on frivolous grounds of “mismanagement of public funds.”[16]What is in an information plan? Before you even meet with a potential customer, you should have an action plan in place. The action plan should consist of 5 areas. Each area will deal with certain aspects of any potential deal and information that will need to be gathered. Let's look at each of the areas and see what you need to learn about the client. First, the contact information for the decision maker and the personality type (we will deal with personality types later in the book). You will also need information on two other levels within the company. Who is the influencer in the situation, their name, title, and to whom they report to, plus their personality type? You will also want to know about anyone else that will be able to sway the decision for hiring your company or purchasing your products. You now have the first step in the process.Second, information about sales volume should be gathered. This information is readily available if they are a publicly traded organization. If they are a privately held company, you may need to find other sources for getting the information. The information is not hard to get as most companies like to boast about their sales record.Third, you will want to know what type of problems they are encountering. In other words, what is their business pain? You will need to make note of some solutions that you can provide that may help, but make sure that this is not cast in stone until after the meeting with the client.Fourth, you will need to know something about their customers: are they happy, what do they see as the strengths and weaknesses? Once again you may have to ask for some leads or wait until you do an analysis of their perceived value. The fifth and last thing to record is birthdates, anniversaries, special interests, and hobbies for each of the contacts. This last piece will help cement the bond. You will have created a place for a touch point with the client that is outside the scope of the contract. It will put you in a place where they will think of you when a similar project comes along. You have now filled in your information plan. You should have enough background data to be able to make comments when in a meeting with the client. You will want the client to do most of the talking and you most of the listening. It is extremely important that you are taking mental notes while listening. Record your notes on your power page after you leave the meeting but do reiterate the major points that you heard before moving on. When addressing the charges, Pericles spoke with determination, offering no apologies – “I was expecting this outburst of indignation; the causes of it are not unknown to me… I allow that for men who are in prosperity and free to choose it is great folly to make war. But when they must either submit and at once surrender independence, or strike and be free, then he who shuns and not he who meets the danger is deserving of blame. For my own part, I am the same man and stand where I did. But you are changed; for you have been driven by misfortune to recall the consent which you gave when you were yet unhurt, and to think that my advice was wrong because your own characters are weak… Anything which is sudden and unexpected and utterly beyond calculation, such a disaster for instance as this plague coming upon other misfortunes, enthralls the spirit of a man.” As he spoke to the Athenian Ecclesia, Pericles still urged courage and strength while appealing for understanding – “…being the citizens of a great city and educated in a temper of greatness, you should not su Tips For Getting The Best Possible Fall Wedding Pictures ~Continued From Part 1~Finding the best possible fall wedding pictures is one of the most important parts of planning a successful wedding, and it is important for anyone planning such a wedding to carefully consider the needs of the wedding party and the remainder of the wedding guests.Review The Portfolio Of The Prospective PhotographerChoosing the right wedding photographer is one of the most vital parts of planning a wedding, and it is important to keep in mind that not every photographer will be up to the challenge of capturing the beauty and wonder of a wedding. It is a good idea to choose a photographer who has experience in photographing weddings, and it is just as important to review his or her portfolio of fall wedding pictures.Accurately Gauge The Skill Of The Would Be Wedding PhotographerFinding such a portfolio to review should not be difficult, since any good wedding photographer should be more than happy to show you the photographs from the weddings he or she has done in the past.Careful review of these photographs is one of the best ways to accurately gauge the skill of the, would be wedding photographer.Ask For References And Check ThemIt is also a good idea to ask for references from any wedding photographer you are considering, and to carefully check those references to make sure you are dealing with a high quality and reputable photographer.Whether you are dealing with an individual photographer or a company, it is important to make sure that they are professional and that they will be able to live up to their end of the bargain.Getting Advice From People You KnowFortunately, those planning a wedding have a number of important resources when it comes to finding the best possible wedding photographer and the best fall wedding pictures. One of the best places to turn to for advice is family members, friends and coworkers who have recently planned or attended weddings of their own. This kind of first hand experience can be extremely valuable when it comes to finding the best possible wedding photographer for the big day. Before long Athenian morale had fallen sharply. In an attempt to boost his peoples’ sagging spirits and restore the confidence they had lost, Pericles spoke about the City’s greatness during the annual “public funeral” that was held to honor her war dead. “Our form of government does not enter into rivalry with the institutions of others. We do not copy our neighbors, but are an example to them. …we are called a democracy, for the administration is in the hands of the many and not the few,” the Athenian leader declared. “There is no exclusiveness in our public life… we are lovers of the beautiful, yet simple in our tastes, and we cultivate the mind without loss of manliness. Wealth we employ, not for talk and ostentation, but when there is a real use for it. To avow poverty with us is no disgrace; the true disgrace is in doing nothing to avoid it. An Athenian citizen does not neglect the state because he takes care of his own household; and even those of us who are engaged in business have a very fair idea of politics,” he added before addressing the courage of the City’s defenders who had fallen in battle. “Methinks that a death such as theirs… gives the true measure of a man’s worth; it may be the first revelation of his virtues… And when the moment came they were minded to resist and suffer, rather than to fly and save their lives; …on the battle-field their feet stood fast, and in an instant, at the height of their fortune, they passed away from the scene, not of their fear, but of their glory. Such was the end of these men; they were worthy of Athens.”[1] Yet the epidemic was too great for Athenians to bear, which was made even worse by the hot summer as described by Diodorus Siculus – “the etesian winds… by which normally most of the heat in the summer is cooled failed to blow; and when the heat intensified and the air grew fiery, the bodies of the inhabitants, being without anything to cool them, wasted away.”[2] Social order collapsed as many abandoned the dead along with their sick friends and family since “strong and weak constitutions proved equally incapable of resistance...”[3] To Thucydides, this was the worst part of the epidemic – “By far the most terrible feature in the malady was the dejection which ensured when any one felt himself sickening, for the despair into which they instantly fell took away their power of resistance, and left them a much easier prey to the disorder; besides which, there was the awful spectacle of men dying like sheep, though having caught the infection in nursing each other. …On the other hand, if they were afraid to visit each other, they perished from neglect; indeed many houses were emptied… for want of a nurse: on the other, if they ventured to do so, death was the consequence.”[4] At the same time, as mentioned earlier, many suffering from the affects of the plague threw themselves into cisterns and water tanks – “…all the illnesses which prevailed at the time were found to be accompanied by fever, the cause of which was the excessive heat. And this was the reason why most of the sick threw themselves into the cisterns and springs in their craving to cool their bodies,”[5] Diodorus Siculus added. Some even amputated extremities such as fingers and toes in a desperate attempt to survive. “[N]umerous unburied bodies were left lying here and there.”[6] Per Thucydides, “The bodies of dying men lay one upon another, and half-dead creatures reeled about the streets and gathered round all the fountains in their longing for water. The sacred places also in which they had quartered themselves were full of corpses… for as the disaster passed all bounds, men, not knowing what was to become of them, became utterly careless of everything… All burial rites before in use were entirely upset, and they buried the bodies as best they could… [Wood used for pyres, became scarce.] Sometimes getting the start of those who raised a pile, they threw their own dead body upon the stranger’s pyre and ignited it… Fear of the gods or law there was none to restrain them… No one expected to be brought to trial for his offenses, but each felt that a far severer sentence had been already passed upon all.”[7] Even beasts and birds of prey avoided the dead – “All the birds and beasts that prey upon human bodies, either abstained from touching them, or died after tasting them. In proof of this, it was noticed that birds of this kind actually disappeared; they were not about the bodies, or indeed to be seen at all,” Thucydides wrote.[8] With no one certain that they would survive since it seemed like everyone regardless of the precautions they took, fell ill – “Athenians avoided each other but perished anyway,”[9] most ignoring the “moans of the dying”[10] as they “hastened to gratify their tastes, and abandoned themselves to the greatest moral depravity.”[11] Per Thucydides, “Men now coolly ventured on what they had formerly done in a corner, and not just as they pleased, seeing the rapid transitions produced by persons in prosperity suddenly dying and those who before had nothing succeeding to their property. So they resolved to spend quickly and enjoy themselves, regarding their lives and riches as alike things of a day. Perseverance in what men called honor was popular with none, it was so uncertain whether they would be spared to attain the object; but it was settled that present enjoyment, and all that contributed to it, was both honorable and useful. Fear of gods or law of man there was none to restrain them. As for the first, they judged it to be just the same whether they worshipped them or not, as they saw all alike perishing; and for the last, no one expected to live to be brought to trial for his offenses, but each felt that a far severer sentence had been already passed upon them all and hung ever over their heads, and before this fell it was only reasonable to enjoy life a little.”[12] At the same time, with 25% of the City’s population dead, the people turned on their leader. They blamed Pericles, whom they viewed as “the author of the war”[13] for the outbreak (because of his strategy of bringing everyone within the City’s walls even though he “had had no [viable] alternative… since it would have been suicidal to engage the larger and better-trained [Laced?monian] infantry”[14] in the Attica countryside) and even urged capitulating to Laced?monia’s demands. A great way to do this if you are in real estate is through blogging.A blog is a web log. It is also a web site. Several years ago, when blogs were first around, most people used them as online journals or diaries. Today there are more than 7 million blogs around the world, or blogosphere, as it is affectionately called. There are many people who run their businesses entirely from a blog and others that use a blog as an addition to an offline business. You can call it a paradigm shift or a new perspective or just a different way to look at things. This single concept can save you tens of thousands of dollars each year. Its soooo powerful and yet its completely underutilized. Learning this simple technique can dramatically impact your financial picture.Tax Deductions the rich use to stay aheadI was speaking about tax savings at a seminar and there was a spontaneous outburst of questions. Can I deduct my health insurance? How about my new truck? I’m taking horseback riding lessons. Are they deductible? What about my vacation? As we worked through people’s list of concerns, it dawned on me. You’ve been trained to ask the wrong question. Let’s suppose you call up your C.P.A. and ask, “Hey Lenny, Can I deduct a Pizza? What do you suppose Lenny’s response would be?He’d probably think you had gone mad – “Are you crazy, he’d say. You can’t deduct a Pizza!”.Tax StrategiesBut if you called me and asked the same question, you’d get a different response altogether. I’d probably pause for a moment and respond “Well, that depends.” You see, if you and I went to an Italian restaurant and ordered Pizza and a couple of beers, the meal would be deductible (at the rate of 50%) so long as we discussed business.Same thing with your vacation if you conducted your annual meeting while you traveled. The equestrian lessons are deductible as education and the new truck is deductible to the degree that you use it for business. Which brings up a key point: It’s not the item, it’s the circumstances.Tax Deduction SecretsMost business people and their advisors wrongly focus on the item (the truck, the lessons, and the trip). Are You Content With Your Web Content? Five Major Improvements That Will Increase Your Click-Thru Rate and Get More Traffic1. Killer Homepage Copy.Your homepage is THE sole determinant in how much traffic you bring in. If your visitors can closely identify with the emotion conveyed in your copy, they'll mentally "bond" with you and be more likely to click through to your other web pages. If your copy isn't doing the job, bring in a professional who will.2. Simple, Logical Navigation. If humans can't even follow the links from one web page to the next, the search engine crawlers probably won't be able to, either. When I first emerged on the web scene, I had no idea that the linked words in a paragraph of web copy are needed to lure the engines to other parts of your website. But now YOU know, so make this information work for your website's rank!3. Articles (formerly known as Deep Content).A well-planned website is both logical and categorical in nature. Main pages should link to category pages that contain links that lead to articles. This is what drives search engines to index your website and add you to their roster of advertised pages. If this concept seems foreign to you, study the navigation of a major "hub" website like EzineArticles.com. Try to imagine building your site starting with the deep content pages and working your way back to the categories which lead to the homepage.4. Free Downloads for Your Visitors to Enjoy. Surprise! Those marketers aren't giving you free information just because they're super-nice (although they might be... I know I am!). They do it because the more people who download files from their websites means the more page views they get. This greatly improves search engine rank!5. Frequently Updated Content.Give your fans and the search engines something to look forward to. Every time you put up a fresh article, new e-book download, fun quiz or special promotion, you drives hordes of new visitors to your website. This is GREAT for your page rank and ultimately great for your business. You can add pages of content to your site by featuring articles from other authors, publishing your monthly newsletter pages live in an Index, or updating your Products page regularly with new items from affiliates of yours. There are so many smart ways to keep traffic flowing steadily in to every page of your website for better rank and a higher placement on the search engines. These are just five of them. I hope they help you create a GREAT site for your business that keeps your fans on the edge of their seats because they CAN'T WAIT to see what you're going to do next! Are YOU Content With Your Content?
