Hub You - Measuring Your Christian Walk with the Right Ruler
A Look Inside the Strategic Mind and the things of His Kingdom. The more focused you are on the Word of God, the more clearer that line becomes to you, and the more able you are to stay on this side of the spiritual line. The strategic mind is an unrolling canvas of ideas and thoughts—shapes and forms, maps and pathways. Constantly churning the mind is sensitive to movements around it, interpreting the factors and elements swirling about but not controlled by them. Seeing, planning, rehearsing, revising, they can incorporate new ideas easily and fluidly instead of rejecting or discarding them. They question not for questioning sake but to add an “But we will not boast of things without [our] measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you. For we stretch not ourselves beyon If you use the "standard of the world", then you are going to go the way of the world. Your life will be filled with the vain wanderings of the common people as you live a life that is focused on yourself and only the things that make you happy. You will always be like everyone else, and less likely to be subjected to ridicule, exclusion, rejection, oppression, persecution or injustice. If you have the life of common worldly people, the Word of God promises that you will be dealt in the Day of Judgment as one of them. If you use the "standard of what feels right", then you take a little bit from both places.....the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of the World. I would make a guess that this is the standard that most of our weaker brothers and sisters in Christ use. You go to church on Sunday and sing the feel good songs and you pray loudly and often for those around you to see. You use the Scriptures that confirm your position in things, and ignore the ones that go against your chosen walk. You embrace the things in life that feel right, and ignore the Word of God when it reveals the sinfulness of your position. Your mantra is "There can't be anything wrong with what I'm doing, because it feels too good". If you use the "standard of the Word of God", then you restrict your actions to the things that He Wills you to do, to become and to live. If His Will is used, then you have a clear line, a clear separation between the things of the world, and the things of His Kingdom. The more focused you are on the Word of God, the more clearer that line becomes to you, and the more able you are to stay on this side of the spiritual line. “But we will not boast of things without [our] measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you. For we stretch not ourselves beyond [our measure], as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in [preaching] the gospel of Christ: Not boasting of things without [our] measure, [that is], of other men’s labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly, To preach the gospel in the [regions] beyond you, [and] not to boast in another man’s line of things made ready to our hand.” (2 Corinthians 10:13-16 AV) Using the Word of God as your standard makes you a very strong Christian. You are not common, you are not of this world, and you do not receive the benefits of this world. You search Scripture diligently, and apply it consistently, regardless of the pain or difficulty it might cause to you. You subject yourselves to all of the negative punishments that this world would have you receive, but know in faith that your commitment to His Word allows you to become righteous and holy and walk toward Him, with a promise of eternal reward when this world comes to an end. Staying on the right side of the spiritual line is not hard, if you focus on the Word of God, with the measure of your ruler Jesus Christ defining your walk toward Him in truth as spoken by His Word. © 2006 David "Bucker" Becker - All Rights Reserved Worldwide.
