Dennis Gabor is considered the Father of Holography and Holographic Technologies. Dennis was born in Hungary in 1900. Holography has specific limitations that presently keep it from being able to do the things that we associate with Holographic Images such as the Star Wars "Holographic Image" communications devices. This technology is totally possible, but it is not really Holography doing it. Perhaps watching a couple online videos might clear this up?
