What is an Entrepreneur? I ask many people this question and it's funny how many people think they are one but always seem to give a very vague definition. The most common answer is a person that starts his or her own business. The meaning of this article is to digg alittle deeper into that question and hopefully by the end you will know exactly if you have what it takes to be an Entrepreneur.

An entrepreneur (a loanword from French introduced and first defined by an Irish economist named Richard Cantillon) is a person who undertakes and operates a new enterprise or venture and assumes some accountability for the inherent risks. Entrepreneurship is often difficult, as many new ventures fail. In the context of the creation of for-profit enterprises, entrepreneur is often synonymous with founder. An Entrepreneur takes accountability for the risks because simply they have to take risks to succeed. Any time you venture into business for yourself there is always going to be a certain amount of risk involved. This sometimes scares people, naturally venturing into the land of uncertainty can be scary but to the Entrepreneur it's exciting. Entrepreneurs share a certain trait the need to do well and if that means taking risks then so be it.

Lets get alittle deeper, An Entrepreneur is a born leader the person who wants to lead his or her team to success. They do not like to be guided by the hand so if you need a step by step guide to become successfull or someone to lead the way, most often then not your not an Entrepreneur. Don't take that the wrong way it's great to learn but there is going to be a time when you need to take charge and that is the part Entrepreneurs strive for.

Another trait of an entrepreneur is their ambition to conquer obstacles. Never running from them but attacking them head on. All obstacles and failures are, in my opinion the best learning tools available to the Entrepreneur. An Entrepreneur never looks at a failure as a failure but a lesson learned.
