But I took it as gospel. I had no intention of ever doing MLM again, but if I did, I'd have to do an audiotape. Then in 1993, the opportunity presented itself. I did a bunch of research, wrote a script, went into a studio and recorded it. Gave it a snappy title ("Tomato Warning!") and ran a classified ad. People ordered. But way more than that, just as I had bonded with Dayle Maloney on audiotape, my tape buyers bonded with me. After listening to me for 90 minutes, they'd call me up and talk to me like I was an old friend. I couldn't understand it at first, because my personality isn't anything to write home about. I can hold up a conversation, so long as you do most of the talking, but there are a gazillion people who can do that. But they kept calling. And then they wrote me. And then they started coming to visit me. Most amazing, of the first 4,000 audiotapes I sold, about 23% of these network marketing prospects either ordered my products joined my business or both! A handful of these guys turned out to be incredible leaders who built themselves good MLM businesses ... and who built me a very nice income. I'm no genius, but I'm not a total idiot, either.
