    Media Relations: When Numbers Lie
NUMBERS, NUMBERS EVERYWHEREYou just placed a terrific story on the local news. Your boss asks you how many people saw it.“Well,” you say, “The latest Nielsen ratings showed that 211,000 people watch the 11 o’clock news on Channel 7 each night.”“Terrific,” your boss says. “Nice work.”But do those numbers really mean anything? Raw rating and circulation numbers make it easy for PR professionals to track the effectiveness of their work, but do they tell the complete story?Too many of us media relations types are under the influence of numbers devoid of context, and we may be doing our clients a disservice in the process. Why? Because just ten percent of the audience matter.THE INFLUENTIALSOkay…that’s a bit of an overstatement. The other 90 percent do matter. But the results of a recent survey make it clear that ten percent of Americans have a hugely disproportionate influence over what the other ninety percent do and buy. The study, released by the research firm NOP World, shows that the influentials p

List Building - List Building Basics for the Beginning List Builder VI
So I've been talking about continuity in list building, continuity and traffic, the importance of continuity from your traffic to the webpage that someone sees when they come from that traffic, to be opt in the event, were the sales of that. There has to be continuity between the traffic, the webpage, the for-sale products, and even the e-mail campaign. This one thing in list building that I have really been a fan of from the very beginning, however, I haven't written about it much lately, is of course this idea of continuity, but it goes a little bit deeper. One of the things that I believe is extremely important is that there is a continuity in the writing style between the initial visitor entry point, and the e-mail campaigns, and even the sales pages. One of the things I have learned is that if I personally write my own e-mails, my click through rate can be as much is five to 10 times higher than if I have someone else write my e-mail for me.Another thing that I have learned is that when I personally write my own sales page
You need a plan to build a successful internet home based business!

Architects use blueprints to lay out the design of a building so the construction workers can build it. The success of the construction job depends on how good the blueprints are!

Building a profitable internet home based business is no different. You, the architect must have a well laid out plan from which to work.

You need proven, time-tested, methods for building a successful online business! I am going to provide you a proven blueprint that when followed will create a profit-pulling online business.

These action-steps are the very steps I use to create online cash machines. Now, it will take some work and it will not create instant riches for you. However, if followed and implemented right it will create an ATM machine in your living room!

This internet home based business blueprint has 3 main pillars. These will be the foundation of your business and they will either make you or break you. I have listed them below and in the following paragraphs we will discuss each one in detail.

    1. Keyword list.

    2. Planning and building your web site.

    3. Promotion.

Now, let's get to the meat and potatoes!

However, before we get too deep into this you will have needed to choose what your internet home based business is going to be about. In other words, what niche market are you going to try to sell in. It is best if it is something that you have an interest in, or a passion for.

Now that you have determined what type of business you are going to establish we can move forward.

    BUILDING YOUR KEYWORD LIST

After you have decided on a niche, it is time to build a set of keywords. Let me be straight forward here, the most important thing you will EVER do for your internet home based business is build a set of relevant and targeted keywords. Keywords are how people will find you on the internet. Over time you will want to have an arsenal of around 1000 keywords established for your niche. In the beginning, approximately 100 will be sufficient to start.

You will need to think of every imaginable keyword or phrase that someone would type into the search engines to look for the products or services that you are selling. If you are marketing golf equipment then you need to develop a keyword list of words related to "golf equipment". Use the Overture Keyword Search Tool to see how many times those keywords have been searched for. Use misspellings and abbreviations for your keywords as well. Not everyone is a perfect speller!

I can't stress enough the importance of keyword development. I know it is the most boring part of starting an internet business, but it will be the cornerstone of it. If you slack off on this you will be setting your business up to fail, simple as that!

As you progress, you can start to find ways to use other keywords that may not be relevant now. Let's get back to our prior example of "golf equipment". If you try to use Tiger Woods as a relevant keyword the search engines may not like that. However, if you write a review about Tiger Woods and his "golf equipment" of choice then the keyword Tiger Woods is now relevant. Now you can put a page on your site dedicated to all of the equipment that Tiger Woods uses to win Major Championships. How many people would buy a driver or putter if they knew that is what Tiger used?

Just remember that keyword development will be the most important thing you do in building your internet home based business.

I will say it one more time, keyword development is critical to your success as an online marketer.

    PLAN AND BUILD YOUR WEBSITE

If you are going to be marketing goods and services on the internet, then you need a website. I know there are some programs on the web that say you can make money selling this or that without using a web site. They're right, you can, but you can sell a whole lot more if you have your own site!

That does not mean that you have to build a huge, expensive web site, but you do need a site. Not just any kind of site, your site needs to be a content rich-information super site. People get on the internet looking for information! So if they want information, what should you give them? I hope you answered information, because if you didn't, we need to start all over. After you have found your niche and built your keyword list, it is time to develop a theme for your site.

When you develop your site, you need to keep in mind the people that will be coming to your site. You want to provide an atmosphere that will keep them coming back. The goal is to provide as much relevant content and free information as possible to attract visitors that will become repeat visitors. They need to feel like they are being provided a great service and that your site can be used as a reference for their hobby, career, or lifestyle.

Back to our example, if your site sells golf equipment, don't just have ads for golf equipment on your web pages! Fill your pages with articles and reviews about golf equipment. How One Free Advertising Method Can Trasform Your Income
A great way to get the word out about your business in a hurry is something so simple and effective yet few marketers online take advantage of it.What if you can advertise for free and potentially get thousands of people to see your message? What if this same concept is viral and can potentially spread all over the internet? What if you can have potentially hundreds of websites linking to you, and in the process, boost your search engine ranking? What if this same concept also builds trust and credibility and brands you online as an expert, which could quite possibly increase your sales? What could this concept possibly be?It's staring you right in the face and you didn't even know it! It's called Article Writing.Publishers are always looking for content for their ezine. You can give them that content by writing an article about something you know about or by sharing your experiences and if they like your article they will then publish it.Then at the end of your article, include a small bio or resource box about yoursel

How To Land A Top Sales Or Marketing Job
Here are a couple of things that you should think about as you’re preparing for an interview with a potential employer:First of all make sure that as you prepare for the interview, you learn as much as you can in advance about the company. What are its core markets? Which customers does it target? Who are the competitors? What is the company unique selling proposition? What is management’s vision & values? What does the leadership stand for? What is the culture about? These are all things that you should study and research prior to going into your interview. You should also prepare questions to the hiring manager on these issues. Their answers will help you to determine the fit between yourself and the company as you explore the job opportunity, and it will demonstrate an advanced understanding of the company to the interview team. This will give you a leg up on other interviewees who don’t do this advanced preparational work. I’m amazed by the number of candidates I meet who can’t think of one intelligent question to ask about the com

What Are The Benefits Of Dental Discount Health Plans?
Let's look at the difference between dental discount health plans and traditional dental health insurance. Dental insurance is not what it used to be 20 or 30 years ago. Premiums are now higher than ever for a decent policy and the traditional waiting periods that everyone must incur before they can be seen for any major problems make it almost not worth while. Basically, the insurance agent tells me that my premiums are going to be $50-$100 a month, I can see a dentist for a discount in the mean time for preventive maintenance items such as cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, etc., however, my root canal will have to wait a year, and even then it won't be covered 100%.Dental discount plans are networks of dentists that have agreed to take less money for standard dental procedures. The only catch to this is that you must pay cash at the time of the visit. This is really a no-brainer. In the example above, if a person needs a root canal right away, they can save anywhere from 10%-60% on getting this taking care of and they don't have to wait a

The key to remember here is that you can sell more with your own site and make the site a content - rich information highway. Content is king on the internet, it always has been and always will be.

So kill'em with content and give them what they want.

PROMOTE YOUR WAY TO TRAFFIC AND SALES

The last key to a successful internet home based business is promotion. There is not a business around online or off that can survive without promotion. Let me dispel the myth that you can build a web site and put it on the internet and that magically thousands of people will begin going to it. It does not happen so don't expect it to!

There are tons of ways to advertise your web site, too much for me to discuss in great detail in this article. Below are some ways that I generate traffic to my web site and I am sure they will work for you.

    - Pay Per Click Advertising - The quickest and most predictable way to generate traffic to your site.

    - Writing Articles - Write articles pertaining to your niche and submit them to article directories and ezine publishers. This is a great way to establish your reputation and get targeted traffic. Another plus with articles is that it can help you get incoming links to your site; the search engines love incoming links.

    - Linking Strategies - Reciprocal linking plays a huge role in page rank with the search engines, especially Google. Reciprocal links can also be a great way to get traffic from other sites that are similar to yours in content.

    - Advertise in Ezines - Advertising in Ezines is an excellent way to get your website in front of a large, captive audience.

    - Post to Forums - Getting involved in forums that are related to your niche is another cheap and effective form of advertising.

    - Get Subscribers - The money on the internet is still in the list. It will be very important that you develop your own list of willing people to send information to. You never want to spam, but those people that willingly provide you their emails to be sent a newsletter or other free promotional materials are invaluable to your online success.

The blueprint that I have laid out before you is the same one that I have used to create more than one internet home based business. It has proven successful for me and I know it can for you as well. Just follow these easy steps and you will be on your way to financial freedom.

That lifestyle you have always dreamed about is closer than you think!
