Innovative Medical Careers - Physician Assistant
In the United States, a PA, or a Physician’s Assistant, is a non-physician therapist, who is licensed to practice medicine under the supervision of a physician. In many cases, this supervision does not have to be direct and many Physician’s Assistants practice in distant and remote locations like satellite clinics.Physician Assistants prescribe medicine and treat patients and in some places in the United States, they are given a DEA number that gives them the power to prescribe specific controlled medicines, such as narcotics. In surgical procedures, Physici

You may also have a few helpers and have established a nice sized business. You have a few choices to make along the way. Assuming you have some sort of business plan for the next several years, how are you going to achieve all your goals? Who will you turn to for advice? In quality improvement engineering there are many tools. I would like to illustrate a few and show how they can apply to healthcare. I will be using tools taken from Lean Manufacturing, an approach used at Toyota Motor Company for many years now. These tools are easily adaptable with a bit of imagination to healthcare. I am not proposing that all healthcare should blindly adopt Lean as the new “flavor of the month,” but if some of the tools fit your site well, then use them. From my experience, the best progress in quality at a site is in the identification and use of quality improvement tools that can be mastered by the employees of the site. There is no use in being a Jack-of-all-trades and master of none.

Two tools that seem to go hand in hand are 5S and Point of Use Storage. 5S is sort, set in order, shine, standardize and sustain. In the most recent issue of Quality Progress (American Society of Quality’s magazine) these tools were applied to storage areas. A storage area should only contain items that are useful to tasks that are performed nearby. For instance in an examination room there should be a good assortment of bandages, but it probably doesn’t make sense to store printer ink in the exam room. This is an example of point of use storage. Further, any storage area no matter the size should be well ordered. You don’t want to have too many of any one item; it is better to have in

    Trade-Marking Your Logo Design
Trade-marking your company name and logo can pay dividends down the road. A logo design trademark can prevent competitors from infringing on your brand name and identity. It can also protect your own company from accusations of logo design infringement. This article addresses some of the key trade-marking issues of logo design, as it’s a topic that many businesses will come across.Trade-marking a logo design can be a complicated process. Because of the many other companies the registrar will have to compare your logo against, the process will often be time-c

Unemployment Blues: Are We Pre-Programmed To Be Productive?
Toiling away at our daily grind, we dream of running away to Hawaii or the South Pacific where we can lie on the beach and do absolutely nothing. Some of us are lucky enough to take a vacation there and temporarily cut ourselves off from the world of responsibilities and demands and worries. We breathe easier, sleep deeper, eat more heartily. It is truly paradise. It's wonderful because we have a life waiting to be reclaimed when we step off the plane. Our job is waiting for us and we go back to work with renewed energy and zest from our long overdue br

In fact, it can be fun and interesting because you get to meet lots of people that are in the pharmaceutical sales profession and get the chance to hear about great job opportunities even before they are advertised! To engage in networking, you must first identify venues to attend. Calculating the Human Costs of Downsizing
Downsizing is never an easy decision. There is an inherent conflict between protecting the company’s interests and that of employees. This balancing act can be a real dilemma for an organization as it tries to insure its long-term survival, and its desire to protect the welfare of its employees.Handled improperly, a company downsizing can damage the public standing of both the organization and its management. People have long memories, and after a difficult time an organization needs the support of the remaining employees in order to rebuild.Consider
assortment of bandages, but it probably doesn’t make sense to store printer ink in the exam room. This is an example of point of use storage. Further, any storage area no matter the size should be well ordered. You don’t want to have too many of any one item; it is better to have in stock what is needed for a day or two and restock as needed. That way, you can have a wider variety of items in the storage area and will waste less time going to look for a supply when it is needed and it isn’t nearby.

Besides having the right amount of items in a storage area, you should have it arranged so that the most frequently used items are easiest to access. A way to make sure that this order is maintained is to have a diagram in the storage area showing where things are located. That way, whenever restocking occurs, items will be placed in the right place so anyone who uses the supplies can easily find them. With a diagram of the work area a person using it for the first time will be easily able to locate an item. A good rule is that anyone should be able to find any item in 30 seconds or less.

Finally, in arranging a storage area, be sure to get rid of any outdated items. If an item is rarely used in activities near that storage area be sure to transfer it to the point where it would be most useful or if no one uses it, dispose of it. Of course, this arrangement of stored items will only be succe
