Principles and Practice of Advertising - The Law Of Fusion
According to this law an observer does not analyze his feelings of agreeableness and disagreeableness, strain and relaxation, comfort and distress, so as to attribute them solely to their actual sources. No matter what the real source of discomfort, it colors all that we do or think at the moment. Thus when I have a bad toothache everything else in the world seems wrong too - the weather was never quite so mean, my friends were never quite so insistent nor my enemies so annoying. Time To Go? Are You Going To Be Sacked Or Made Redundant?
You are working away as usual at your job, but things are starting to change around you. Is this the start of the end of your career with your current employer? Should you jump before you are pushed? Here are some signs that all is not well with your career.Consultants On Site: There are suddenly a lot of new faces in the office, warehouse or shop. They are wandering around and asking questions and there seems to be a lot of changes afoot. If your area seems to be getting more than its fair share of attention
The fundamental rule is: if you are going to apply for advertised jobs then only apply for the right ones. Don’t waste time by applying for the ones you’ve no chance of getting; not only is your time lost but your morale will suffer if you keep getting rejections. Analysing adverts thoughtfully saves you more than just time.

When you are looking for a new job, particularly if you don’t currently have one, it’s too easy to be ‘busy’ by spending your time on the wrong things.

For example one day, I observed one of my students reading a well known Daily Newspaper which on this particular Thursday had around 40 pages of display adverts. As he read through, it became clear to me that although there were so many ads, there really wasn’t anything suitable for him. However when he reached the end of the jobs section without marking or copying any of the vacancies, he went right back to the beginning and re-read the whole section until he found something he could apply for.

Then he sat back with a look of satisfaction because he could now say he’d found something to apply for and get on with an application.

Market Research: Qualitative, Quantitative and Everything In Between
For people considering market research, a point that often trips them up is the difference between qualitative and quantitative market research. Unfortunately, there are such important distinctions between those two types of research methodologies that it’s difficult to consider the pros and cons of conducting market research until those differences are made clear. That’s the goal of this article.I know that it’s stating the obvious, but the terms really are made much easier by remembering their root words – quantitative

Essentially a source of light then, tallow, beeswax, and vegetable wax were molded into cylindrical shapes with twisted wicks in between. In fact he’d wasted all that time, the job wasn’t suitable but he felt as though he’d been busy and had something to show for it. When the “no thanks” letter arrived it just deepened his desperation.

    So what should you do?

Look very carefully at each advert that is of interest and read it several times until you get the feel of what’s being said.

When you have that feel, try to read between the lines to deduce if there is one ‘crucial’ need or if there is anything else you could infer from their words. It’s also useful to read it critically and ask “have they missed anything out” that could affect your suitability.
